The Hudson & Thames apprenticeship is an intensely focused program that results in a portfolio of work, through expert knowledge, authority positioning, and tangible results. It is a 3 month, virtual, and full-time engagement.

Your projects are based on peer-reviewed papers from the world’s best researchers and academic journals. You will gain experience in quantitative research and build production-ready algorithms from first principles.

APPLICATION PROCESS

APPLICATION

Applications will open on the 1st of October 2021. Please send a copy of your CV as well as university transcripts to research@hudsonthames.org. We only accept up to 4 students in each cohort. Mandatory requirement: the ability to code in Python and fluent in English.

DEADLINES

Applications are open for a 2 week period for students to submit their CV and Transcripts, 1 week for the skillset challenge, and 1 week of interviews. If you have any questions please contact us.

FAQ

Are there any prerequisites?

Experience in Python and fluency in English are the most important factors, followed by soft requirements such as linear algebra, statistics, and exposure to machine learning.

We find that candidates from computer science and engineering backgrounds are the most likely to succeed.

Can I send unofficial documentation or does it have to be official documentation?

You may submit unofficial transcripts.

Will the mentorship be mostly through online communication?

It will all take place online. Our members are based across the world, mainly in New York, London, Poland, and Kiev. You will have the opportunity to build relationships with everyone in the team.

P.S. We adopt agile project management.

Will I have a primary mentor or will this involve group mentoring?

You will have a primary mentor and exposure to other members in the group. The scope of your project will dictate which one of us is your primary mentor. This is due to different members of the team having different skill sets.

Am I guaranteed a position as a researcher?

No, researcher positions are reserved for top candidates.

How will I be able to continue with Hudson and Thames after the mentorship program?

Top candidates are invited to join the research group. As a member, you will have ongoing access to resources, at no extra charge. It is typical for members to continue their research and develop further intellectual property.

How did other previous candidates continue on after their completion of the program?

Aditya has become a co-author of the MlFinLab and PortfolioLab package, Illya and Valeriia have been employed full time by the group.

Overall, members continue to develop intellectual property and use H&T as a platform to launch their careers.

Will the payment occur in a direct bank transfer?

Yes, we have a Transferwise bank account so all payments are made to our business account.

Will Hudson & Thames write me a letter of recommendation?

Yes, we support all our members and will happily act as a source of reference.
